About Centro Cultural Citi (Citibank)
The Citi Cultural Center (CCC) began its activities in 1999, when Citi moved its corporate headquarters to the Villa Morra neighborhood. Rather than demolish the old Art Deco-style mansion (possibly built between the 1920s and 1930s) that occupied part of the site, the bank decided to preserve and restore it to house the cultural center, keeping the original floors, large windows, and exterior ornamentation.
The CCC has three exhibition halls — one of them designated Sala Museo (Museum Room) — as well as an interior courtyard for reading and leisure and the garden "El patio de Edith," dedicated to artist Edith Jiménez. It organizes around fifty cultural activities a year (painting, printmaking, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture, theater, music, film, among others) and receives approximately 4,000 visitors a year, with free admission. It is the only cultural center in the Villa Morra neighborhood, and Citi is the only financial institution in the country with its own cultural center.
