About Nipon Automotores S.A.
Nipon Automotores S.A. is the exclusive official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors in Paraguay, with a history that began in 1976 when engineer Genaro Peña Barrientos founded the company and introduced the first Mitsubishi 4x4 vehicles into the Paraguayan market. The company was a pioneer in bringing the Mitsubishi L200 in 4x2 version, the first Montero SUV, and the first 2.8 intercooler turbo technology in the 90s. Between 1992 and 1995, Nipon became the largest importer of new vehicles in Paraguay, selling over 3,000 units per year. Today, almost five decades later, Nipon Automotores remains the Mitsubishi reference in the country with a range that includes the L200 pickup (very popular among farmers and ranchers), the Montero Sport SUV, the Eclipse Cross, and other models. Headquartered at Avda. Eusebio Ayala 4732 in Asunción, the group has branches in Concepción and Ciudad del Este.
