About Asunción Palace Hotel

Asunción Palace Hotel is Paraguay's most historic lodging establishment. Built in 1858 by Italian architect Alessandro Ravizza commissioned by Colonel Venancio López, brother of Marshal Francisco Solano López, the building served as an aristocratic residence, a Brazilian naval hospital during the War of the Triple Alliance (1869), and finally a hotel at the end of the 19th century. Declared a Cultural Property of the Nation of Monumental Value in 1982, the hotel preserves its Beaux Arts architecture with French-style windows and floor-to-ceiling curtains that evoke the grandeur of its past. Its 25 rooms feature minibar, satellite TV and air conditioning. Services include buffet breakfast, rooftop terrace and garden. Located 5 minutes by car from Government Palace and steps from the Casa de la Independencia, it's the ideal choice for history-passionate travelers who want to stay literally inside Paraguay's living history.
