About Hospital de Clínicas – National University
Hospital de Clínicas is the university hospital of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of Asunción (UNA), and the largest and most important public health establishment in Paraguay. In 2024 it celebrated 130 years of uninterrupted history serving the health of the Paraguayan people. Located on the University Campus of San Lorenzo (a few kilometers from Asunción), it serves nearly one million people per year and performs approximately 15,000 surgeries annually, including kidney, liver, bone, bone marrow and cornea transplants. For low-income or transit expats, Hospital de Clínicas is an unavoidable reference for high-complexity publicly accessible care. It has multiple specialized services, emergencies, laboratory, diagnostic imaging and a Maternal-Child Center. Care is free for patients without health insurance.
