Biggie Express is Paraguay's first and largest 24-hour convenience store chain, founded in October 2013. With over 260 stores in 31 cities, approximately 4 million people shop at Biggie monthly, making it the largest retail chain in Paraguay by number of locations. Biggie's business model is based on three pillars: practicality (small neighborhood stores), speed (optimized layout for quick shopping) and proximity (a Biggie store on virtually every urban corner). In 2025 the chain faced a controversy when the government ordered a temporary closure of all stores due to health violations in some locations; however, most stores were re-authorized within weeks. For foreigners and tourists in Paraguay, Biggie is the go-to for quick late-night purchases, Sundays or when conventional supermarkets are closed.
