About Centro Cultural del Puerto de Asunción

The Centro Cultural del Puerto de Asunción occupies the former port terminal building, opened in 1907 in the Historic Center, near Colón street. It opened as a cultural venue on 14 December 2023, led by the National Navigation and Ports Administration (ANNP) and the National Secretariat of Culture.

The restoration kept the original vaulted ceiling and the art deco ironwork, and seven murals came to light during the works. In January 2024 an agreement between the Secretariat of Culture, the ANNP and the Office of the First Lady set out to make the port the country's main cultural hub.

Its program includes fairs, contemporary art, music, theater, dance, workshops and community activities. The Salón Auditorio hosts El Puerto Suena, a series of free concerts of Paraguayan music.
