About El Café de Porfirio
El Café de Porfirio is one of Asunción's most unique and beloved spaces. Founded by Paraguayan plastic artist Porfirio Busto and his wife Fátima Busto, the venue is simultaneously a café, an art bookstore, and a painting school. Porfirio Busto is known throughout Paraguay for his educational television program 'Dibujando con Porfirio,' which shaped the childhood of generations of Paraguayans. The Villa Morra building houses an art studio upstairs where drawing and oil painting classes are held, while downstairs visitors can enjoy coffee made with Brazilian-origin beans roasted locally in Asunción. The atmosphere is warm, family-friendly, and artistic, with works on permanent display and for sale.
