Frigorifico Concepcion is one of the largest meat exporting companies in Paraguay. It was born in 1997 in the city of Concepcion as a small slaughterhouse operating under the name Nelore Importadora y Exportadora SRL, serving companies in the region. In 1998 it changed its name to Frigorifico Concepcion SRL and in 1999 it entered the export segment to supply the international market. The company strongly expanded its operations: in 2008 it built a biodiesel production center at its facilities, in 2010 it acquired an industrial tannery plant capable of processing between 1,000 and 2,000 hides per day, and between 2012 and 2013 it leased additional processing plants in Asuncion to increase its capacity and reduce logistics costs. Today around 90% of its production is destined for international markets, with a presence on four continents and certifications for the most demanding markets, including Halal and Kosher. In 2020 it achieved a milestone by becoming the first non-financial Paraguayan company to issue 144A/Reg. S bonds in international capital markets, for an amount of US$ 100 million. With its plant and headquarters in the city of Concepcion, the group -which also expanded with operations in Bolivia- is a benchmark of Paraguayan beef exports and of the country's integration into global protein chains.
