Yerba Mate Selecta is one of the traditional yerba mate brands of Paraguay, with operations since 1950 under the motto "we sow passion, we harvest life". The company was founded by Reinaldo Bronstrup and his wife Malvina Bohn de Bronstrup in Bella Vista, Itapua, in the heart of the Paraguayan yerba mate region. Over more than 70 years of history the firm developed two yerba mate leaf collection centers and processing plants: the first located in Bella Vista and the second in San Rafael del Parana. Selecta generates work and income for around 400 families -some 200 directly as permanent collaborators and another 200 during the harvest seasons-. It is the only yerba mate company in Paraguay with the ISO 9001 quality seal, which guarantees care in the product manufacturing process. Its yerba is harvested by hand during just a few months a year and is aged for around two years before being packaged, in search of a stable, high-quality flavor profile. In addition to an important segment of the local consumer market, Selecta exports to some 35 markets, including Uruguay, Bolivia, Chile, Canada, the United States, Spain, France, Germany, Poland, Israel, Japan, Taiwan, Ukraine and Australia. With its plant and headquarters in Bella Vista, Itapua, Selecta is a benchmark of the yerba mate industry and of Paraguayan yerba mate exports.
