A private reserve and salt lagoon in the Chaco, a Ramsar wetland site

Presidente Hayes

About

Chaco Lodge protects 2,500 hectares within the Riacho Yacaré Sur basin, around a salt lagoon also known as Laguna Salada or Laguna Flamenco. Because of its value for bird and aquatic wildlife conservation, the site was designated a Ramsar site, an international wetland category.

The main draw is the Mirador Flamenco viewpoint, where flocks of flamingos gather mainly between May and September. The site also offers walks along natural trails and notably clear night skies for stargazing. It sits in the Teniente Irala Fernández district, in Central Chaco, Presidente Hayes department.
