About Filigree Circuit — Luque

Luque, known as the "City of Music and Gold", is the cradle of two unique Paraguayan craft traditions: gold and silver filigree jewelry, and the making of harps and guitars. The Filigree Circuit tours workshops and goldsmiths' studios where over 300 artisans transform ultra-fine gold and silver threads into lace-like metalwork imitating flowers, hummingbirds and musical instruments. It is the country's most sophisticated artisan jewelry tradition, with roots in Spanish colonization. Visitors can watch the creation process live, learn the ancient technique and purchase unique pieces. The Luque Jewelers Association groups the main artisans. Just 15 km from Asunción, Luque is a perfect half-day trip for those seeking authentic craftsmanship.
