Asunción Waterfront (Costanera)

The Costanera de Asunción is the most popular and frequented public space in the Paraguayan capital. It stretches along the Asunción Bay, on the banks of the Paraguay River, from the historic center to Cerro Lambaré, over a length of 8.1 kilometers. This modern coastal avenue was completely renovated and expanded in recent years, becoming Asunción's recreational and social lung. Along the route, visitors find wide walkways for walking and jogging, an extensive cycle path, a modern open-air amphitheater for concerts and cultural events, children's playgrounds, outdoor gym equipment, parking and multiple food establishments. On weekends and holidays, the Costanera becomes the meeting point of the entire city, with families, athletes, street artists and tourists. The 'Turista Róga Costanera' tourist information center offers information and cultural activities Monday through Sunday. Catamaran tours of the Paraguay River also depart from the waterfront. For the foreign visitor, this promenade is the best way to discover Asunción's relationship with its river and feel the city's daily rhythm.
