Paraguay's most visited Marian sanctuary after Caacupé.

Tebicuary

About

Devotion to the Virgen del Paso began on December 18, 1954, when the image of the Virgin of Caacupé arrived in Itapé and its cloak touched the waters of the Tebicuarymí river, at a spot known as Paso Tuya. Since then, those waters have been credited with healings and favors.

The sanctuary was created in 1955 on the banks of the same river and is, after Caacupé, the most visited Marian destination in Paraguay. It is located in the city of Itapé, Guairá department, and celebrates its feast every December 18.
