This home in Ciudad Nueva, Asunción, is the result of reinterpreting an older house by Paraguayan architect Javier Corvalán, with project and construction by Sonia Carísimo and Ma. Gloria Gutiérrez. The 2007 intervention preserves the essence of the original structure while introducing a contemporary language through recycled wood and exposed brick.
The layout includes three bedrooms, one en suite, and three bathrooms. The living and dining area features double height and overhead natural light, while the kitchen is semi-integrated. A mezzanine level houses a workspace or library. The central courtyard integrates vegetation and a sculptural curved wall. There is also a laundry and concealed drying area, a garage for two vehicles, and a quincho-style space with potential for repurposing.
Notable elements include the multifunctional undulating wall and a shade structure made from recycled pallets. The property has been featured in specialized architecture media.
