About Filadelfia

<p>Filadelfia is the capital of the Boquerón department and the main urban centre of the Paraguayan Chaco. The city grew around the Fernheim Mennonite colony, founded by immigrants of Russian-German origin who arrived in Paraguay during the first half of the twentieth century.</p><p>The local economy is driven by the dairy and beef industries that Mennonite cooperatives have developed to an export scale. Filadelfia also concentrates the administrative, commercial and healthcare services that supply the entire Chaco region.</p>
