About Francisco Caballero Álvarez

Francisco Caballero Álvarez is a district in the department of Canindeyú, in northeastern Paraguay, whose name honors a figure from Paraguay's national history. The district is part of the territorial strip extending toward the border with Brazil, sharing the region's agricultural vocation with the rest of the department. Soybeans and maize are the main crops in the area, in a regional context shaped by agricultural expansion and by the influence of communities of Brazilian origin that settled in Canindeyú during the final decades of the twentieth century.
