About Juan E. O'Leary

Juan E. O'Leary is a district in the department of Alto Paraná, in eastern Paraguay. It is named after the Paraguayan historian, poet, and politician Juan E. O'Leary, a key figure in the reassertion of Paraguay's national memory during the twentieth century. The local economy is anchored in extensive agriculture, with soybean cultivation as the dominant activity—a characteristic shared across most of eastern Paraguay. The district forms part of the rural surroundings of Ciudad del Este, the departmental capital and primary commercial hub of the region.
