About Piribebuy

Piribebuy is known as the Ciudad de las Heroínas in memory of the Battle of Piribebuy on August 12, 1869, during the War of the Triple Alliance, when the civilian population—largely women and children—resisted the advance of allied forces. This historical episode is the cornerstone of local identity and is commemorated each year.

The district, nestled in the Cordillera hill range roughly seventy kilometers from Asunción, is also recognized for the artisanal production of caña paraguaya and for a landscape of hills and forest that draws visitors seeking history and nature.
