About San Roque

San Roque is one of the traditional colonial neighborhoods of Asunción, located in the Historic Center, around the Plaza Uruguaya and the old central train station. It takes its name from the San Roque church, a colonial icon of the area that gave its identity to the zone and to numerous historic businesses such as the Bar San Roque, opened in 1900. The neighborhood houses key cultural references such as the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and has become recognized for its nightlife, emblematic bars, and the Escalinata de Antequera, one of the most photographed urban landscapes of the city. It preserves mixed architecture of old houses, public buildings, and heritage properties, in a predominantly pedestrian and service-oriented area. The real estate offer is similar to the rest of the Center: lofts in old buildings, mansions for restoration, and commercial premises. For international investors, San Roque offers historic character, intense cultural life, and competitive prices, with potential for hotel, gastronomic, or urban loft residential uses.
