About Yby Pytã

<p>Yby Pytã is a district in the department of Canindeyú, in northeastern Paraguay. Its name, from the Guaraní language, can be roughly translated as «red earth», a reference to the reddish soil typical of various zones in Paraguay's eastern region that conditions agricultural work in the area.</p><p>The local economy rests on agricultural production, with soybeans as the main crop in the context of the agricultural expansion that transformed the department of Canindeyú in recent decades. Proximity to the border with Brazil gives the district the particular dynamics of the country's northeastern border corridor.</p>
