About Recoleta

Recoleta is one of the oldest neighborhoods of Asunción, located in the southeast of the capital, within the La Recoleta district. Its name comes from the Recollect Franciscans, whose historic convent was later used as a cemetery: today's Cementerio de la Recoleta, a landmark of the neighborhood. Historically a residential middle and upper-middle class area, with single-family homes, leafy streets, and strong neighborhood ties, in recent years it has become one of the most dynamic and diverse urban enclaves in Asunción, with steady growth in residential, corporate, and commercial developments. It hosts Shopping Mariscal López, and since April 2024, La Cuadrita, a pedestrian street along Alberto de Souza featuring top-tier dining options.
