About Chortitzer Cooperative

Cooperativa Chortitzer Ltda. is one of Paraguay's most important companies and an iconic case of the successful Mennonite cooperative model in the Chaco. Founded in 1927 (formally 1962) by Mennonites of Colonia Menno in Loma Plata, Boquerón department, the cooperative operates dairy plants, cold storage, supermarkets, grain export, feed factories, an electric plant, transport, and health and education services. Its Lácteos Trebol brand has maintained top-of-mind dairy leadership in Paraguay for 13 consecutive years, processing over 150 million liters of raw milk per year. The FrigoChorti division produces high-quality beef and charcuterie, achieving exports to Canada. In 2024, Chortitzer acquired the CO-OP and Tropicana brands to expand its dairy portfolio.
