About this business

Yacyretá Island is an island in the Paraná River, Itapúa department, whose Guaraní name means 'land of the moon'. Divided by the Yacyretá dam, the island forms part of the natural reserves managed by the Yacyretá Binational Entity (EBY). The reserve is a mosaic of flooded grasslands, riparian forests and wetlands hosting over 250 bird species, including the endangered yellow cardinal, as well as capybaras, howler monkeys, broad-snouted caimans and several turtle species. Over 9,200 people enjoyed ecotourism in Yacyretá reserves in 2022. Visitors can explore trails through native trees, hanging bridges, viewpoints, crystal-clear springs and wildlife observation.
