About

The chapel of Nuestra Señora del Rosario was built by the Gayoso family in 1759 and donated to the Franciscans in 1769, the same year governor Carlos Morphi raised the settlement to parish status. Its exterior is simple, with a bell tower set apart from the main building, but its main altarpiece holds the church's greatest richness.

The altars and religious images were carved in wood by Guaraní craftsmen. the church stands in the center of Pirayú, in the Paraguarí department.
