Paraguay's movie theaters, city by city

Paraguayan movie theaters are not only in Asunción and Ciudad del Este. There are screens in eleven cities: besides the two big ones, cinemas operate in San Lorenzo, Lambaré, Mariano Roque Alonso, Itauguá, Encarnación, Coronel Oviedo, Caaguazú, Pilar and Pedro Juan Caballero. This guide gathers them all, city by city.

All of them sit inside a shopping mall. And the brand name is misleading: "Itaú Cinema Pop" is not a company but a bank sponsorship layered over screens run by different operators, so the bank's discount does not apply everywhere.

Asunción

• Cinemark Paseo La Galería: ten screens and 2,200 seats on the third floor of Paseo La Galería. It is the largest complex in the country and the only one with XD, D-BOX and Premier rooms.
• Itaú Cinema Pop del Sol: four fully digital 2D and 3D screens at Shopping del Sol.
• Itaú Cinema Pop Mall Excelsior: it opened on 20 June 2026, bringing movie theaters back downtown after years without any.
• Cine Villamorra: on the second floor of Villamorra Shopping, on Mariscal López.
• Cine Multiplaza: four screens renovated in 2023, with 2K laser digital projection and Dolby 7.1 sound.
• Cines Itaú Hiperseis: on Mariscal López and Salustiano Casco.

Greater Asunción

• Cinema Fuente, in San Lorenzo: four screens seating 83, 123, 88 and 210; the two largest show 3D.
• Cines Itaú Pinedo, in San Lorenzo: home to the country's first 4D screen.
• Itaú Cinema Pop San Lorenzo Shopping, at San Lorenzo Shopping.
• Itaú Cinema Pop Shopping Mariano, in Mariano Roque Alonso: four screens with 200 seats each.
• Itaú Cinema Pop Cerroalto, in Lambaré: the city's first movie theater.
• Itaú Cinema Pop Itauguá, at Paseo Guaraní in Itauguá: three screens across 695 m².

Ciudad del Este

It has more complexes than anywhere except Asunción, and the most uneven offer: from an XD room to a cinema that screens in 2D only.

• Cinemark Lago Shopping: five screens and more than 900 seats on the fourth level of Lago Shopping. Its XD room holds 340 people.
• Cineart Ciudad del Este, at Shopping Zuni: four screens, including a 198-seat 3D room. Its opening brought cinema back to the city after six years without any.
• Cine Plaza, at Shopping Plaza City: it screens in 2D only, as its own website states.

Encarnación and the rest of the country

• Itaú Cinema Pop Costanera: five screens and 1,200 seats at Costanera Shopping.
• CineMax 3D, on the third floor of Maxiaventura: the area's first 3D cinema.
• Itaú Cinema Pop D Shopping, on Route 7: two screens with 330 seats each.
• Cineart Caaguazú, at Nanawa and Pedro Juan Caballero.
• Cinex Pedro Juan Caballero: it opened on 4 September 2025 together with Shopping Dubai.
• Cine Las Hortensias: a 70-seat room opened on 13 January 2022, which gave Pilar back its cinema after several years without one.

Formats, prices and discounts

2D is available everywhere in the country. 3D, in all but Cine Plaza. Premium formats are concentrated: the only 4D screen is at Pinedo, and XD, D-BOX and Premier belong to Cinemark — all at Paseo La Galería, except the XD room at Lago Shopping.

Wednesday is the cheap day at most theaters, and prices rise from Thursday to Sunday and with the format. Once a year, the Fiesta del Cine drops admission to a single flat price for four days.

Bank discounts change often and are worth confirming beforehand. Itaú's 2-for-1, for instance, runs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays — not Wednesdays, Saturdays or Sundays, and not for the first screening — and does not cover all ten screens carrying the brand. Cinemark publishes its own promotions with several banks.
