About Boquerón

The district of Boquerón takes its name from the famous Fortín Boquerón, the site of the first major battle of the Chaco War in September 1932. That engagement, which ended with Paraguayan forces capturing the fort, became etched in the national collective memory as a symbol of resistance.

The district territory forms part of the central Paraguayan Chaco, characterised by extensive low-forest formations, seasonal wetlands and a climate of wide thermal range.
