About Caacupé
Caacupé is the capital of the Cordillera Department, located approximately 54 km east of Asunción along Route 2, in the foothills of the Cordillera de los Altos. It is known worldwide as the "City of Faith" for being Paraguay's main Marian shrine: the Basílica Menor de los Milagros de Caacupé, elevated to that rank by Pope Francis during his historic visit to Paraguay in July 2015, hosts on every December 8th the country's largest religious pilgrimage, when over one million pilgrims arrive from every corner of Paraguay and abroad to venerate the Virgin of Caacupé, patroness of the nation. This centuries-old pilgrimage makes Caacupé one of the most visited religious destinations in South America on that date. The city's landscape combines a hillside setting — with a temperate climate and lush vegetation — with a service infrastructure developed for religious and nature tourism, including hotels, restaurants, and craft markets. The real estate offer includes weekend homes, plots, and rural tourism properties at very accessible prices. For the investor, Caacupé is an opportunity in the seasonal religious tourism and mountain second-home segment within the Asunción-Route 2 corridor.
