The Mcal. López neighborhood of Hernandarias bears the name of Marshal Francisco Solano López, President of Paraguay who led the country during the War of the Triple Alliance (1864-1870). The place name is one of the most widespread in Paraguay's urban geography as a tribute to this central historical figure.
