About La Colmena

<p>La Colmena is a district in the Paraguarí department whose history is shaped by Japanese immigration that settled in Paraguay during the twentieth century. The agricultural colony founded by families of that origin transformed land use and diversified local production with intensive horticulture and fruit growing.</p><p>Today the district presents an orderly landscape of productive smallholdings that blend farming techniques introduced by the settlers with traditional Paraguayan crops.
