About Villalbín

Villalbín is a small district of the Ñeembucú department in southwestern Paraguay. Its rural territory is set within the characteristic plain of the region, marked by the presence of marshes, wetland channels, and natural grasslands that make up the landscape of the Esteros del Ñeembucú. Extensive cattle ranching is the predominant productive activity, as in most districts of the department. Villalbín shares with the rest of Ñeembucú the historical memory of the War of the Triple Alliance, which in the nineteenth century profoundly transformed the social and territorial fabric of the region.
