Banco Continental

Banco Continental S.A.E.C.A. is a private Paraguayan bank founded on November 10, 1980. In 2004 it went through a restructuring process after a group of Paraguayan investors acquired its shares. It is a publicly listed corporation (Sociedad Anónima Emisora de Capital Abierto, S.A.E.C.A.), which allows it to issue shares, bonds and securities through the Asunción Stock and Products Exchange (BVPASA), for which it qualifies with the National Securities Commission (CNV).

The bank offers savings accounts, checking accounts, a basic account, credit cards and personal loans, served through branches, ATMs and its Contimóvil mobile app, which can also be used to open an account. According to its own institutional website, in 2009 it received an investment from the World Bank, in 2012 it issued bonds on the international market through the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, and in December 2020 it issued Sustainable Bonds worth USD 300 million for green and social loans. It also acquired 100% of the shares of NBC Bank Brasil S.A., based in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
