About El Norteño
El Norteño is a restaurant located in Loma Plata, an option for travelers crossing the Central Chaco who need a place to stop and eat along the way.
Loma Plata is the center of Menno Colony, the first Mennonite colony in the Paraguayan Chaco, founded in 1927 by families who arrived from Canada. The town sits along the Trans-Chaco Highway, the road that crosses the region toward Bolivia, in an area of hot, dry climate, thorn-scrub vegetation, and an economy built on the dairy and cattle production of the Mennonite cooperatives.
