About Sumidenso Paraguay
Sumidenso is the local name of the Japanese Sumitomo group (Sumitomo Wiring Systems / Sumitomo Electric) in Paraguay, present in the country since 2014 under the maquila regime. Its plant is located in the city of Capiata, Central department. It is dedicated to the manufacture of electrical wiring and harnesses for automobiles, integrating the global supplier chain of automakers such as Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Fiat, among others. The company employs more than 1,400 people, with a predominantly female workforce (around 70%) and predominantly young (about 65% under 30 years old), and has celebrated more than ten years of operations in the country, boosting the auto parts maquila industry. Its production is entirely destined for export: between 2015 and the present it has exported a total of close to US$ 325 million, with main destinations in Brazil, the United States, Argentina, Malaysia and Thailand. It is one of the pillars of the Paraguayan automotive cluster.
