About Farmacia y Perfumería Catedral
Farmacia y Perfumería Catedral is one of the largest and oldest pharmacy chains in Paraguay. It was founded on November 11, 1905 by Italian brothers Domingo, Miguel and Laviero Scavone, who opened the "Botica y Droguería de la Catedral" and became pioneers of pharmacology in the country. In 1916 they established Scavone Hermanos S.A. and moved the business to downtown Asunción under the Farmacia Catedral name. With over 120 years of history, the brand operates under the motto "Since 1905" and keeps branches in Asunción, Greater Asunción and the country's interior.
Its offering includes medicines, supplements, dermocosmetics, perfumery, baby and maternity products and its renowned Botica Magistral service of personalized compounded formulas. Its headquarters sit at Santa Ana 429 near Avda. España, in the Villa Morra neighborhood of Asunción. In 2025-2026 the company advanced a landmark merger with Farmacenter that, if approved, would form one of the country's largest pharmacy networks with more than 450 points of sale. For expats, investors and visitors, Catedral is a trusted reference for accessing health and wellness in Paraguay.
