Regional Hospital of Pedro Juan Caballero

The Regional Hospital of Pedro Juan Caballero is the main public healthcare center in Amambay department, on the border with the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Part of the XIII Health Region of the MSPBS, the hospital has 25 inpatient beds, 3 pre-labor rooms, 2 post-anesthesia recovery rooms, 10 emergency boxes, 1 general surgery operating room, 1 obstetric operating room, 10 outpatient clinics, pharmacy, laboratory and radiology. Recent equipment improvements include a new mammography unit for early breast cancer detection, a portable ultrasound, and successful surgical marathons. It is the public health reference for residents of Pedro Juan Caballero and the border area where Paraguayans, Brazilians and indigenous communities coexist.
