COFCO International Paraguay

COFCO International Paraguay S.A. is one of the largest soybean exporters in the country, linked to the COFCO group (China Oil and Foodstuffs Corporation), controlled by the Chinese State, which seeks to position itself as a rival to the large global agro-industrial traders such as ADM, Bunge and Cargill. In various seasons COFCO has topped the ranking of Paraguayan soybean exporters, coming to concentrate around 16% of the country's soybean grain exports according to data from the Paraguayan Chamber of Exporters and Traders of Cereals and Oilseeds (CAPECO). The company comes from the operation originally known as Nidera Paraguay, later integrated into the global network of COFCO International. Internationally, the group has 66 storage facilities in the interior of the countries where it operates, with 2.7 million tons of capacity, including silos in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. In Paraguay, COFCO is dedicated to the origination, storage and marketing of soybeans and other grains for export, taking advantage of the Paraguay-Parana waterway. Its offices are located in Asuncion, on Avenida Aviadores del Chaco No. 2050, in the World Trade Center complex (Tower 4). COFCO is thus a central player in Paraguayan agricultural foreign trade and a direct link between the country's soybean production and the Chinese and Asian market.
