About Pakuri

Pakuri, whose name comes from a native Guaraní fruit, is one of Asunción's most original and exciting restaurants. Inaugurated in 2016 in a structure built with recycled shipping containers on a vegetation-surrounded plot in Villa Morra, the project was born from the vision of chef Sofía Pfannl and her husband, sommelier José Miguel Burga. The culinary concept is unique in Paraguay: rescuing foods that are disappearing from local gastronomy, from piranha to mandi'i fish, along with fruits and herbs that even Paraguayans themselves don't know. Dishes are cooked in tatakua, the traditional Paraguayan clay oven, and each menu changes according to the season and available ingredients. The couple was recognized in Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants for their cuisine with Paraguayan roots and global ambition. For foreign visitors seeking an authentic gastronomic experience away from the conventional, Pakuri is one of the most interesting tables in the city.
