About Bolsi Restaurant
El Bolsi is one of Paraguay's most beloved and internationally recognized gastronomic institutions. Founded in February 1960 by Pedro Turchetto and his wife Hortencia Valiente, the restaurant occupies two heritage buildings in neoclassical and art deco styles at the corner of Estrella and Alberdi, in the heart of Asunción's historic center. It was declared a Historic Landmark of the City for its exceptionally preserved architecture and was selected among the 150 most outstanding restaurants in the world by Taste Atlas. For foreigners visiting Paraguay, eating at El Bolsi is an unmissable experience: the warm atmosphere, décor evoking past decades, and an extensive menu combining the best of Paraguayan cuisine with international options make it the perfect meeting point in the city center. Specialties such as surubí a la teja (tiled fish), homemade empanadas, and traditional desserts are the most requested dishes. The wine list is solid and prices are very accessible for a place of such quality. It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, making it ideal for arriving at any hour from the airport or after visiting the Pantheon of Heroes, just a few blocks away.
