THN Paraguay

THN Paraguay S.A. is a South Korean auto parts maquila company that has operated in the country since 2013; it was the first auto parts company to register under the maquila regime in Paraguay. Its plant is located in the city of Itaugua, Central department. It is dedicated to the manufacture and marketing of electrical wiring harnesses for vehicle assembly, as well as wiring oriented to white goods. The company employs around 1,000 to 1,100 workers, mostly from the area, with an inclusive workforce: about 54% are women and around 78% are young people under 30. THN generates approximately 30% of the exports of auto parts produced under the maquila regime in the country. Its export growth is notable: from some US$ 6 million in 2013 it went to annual exports of around US$ 42 million, with projects such as the production of wiring for new Hyundai models in Brazil. It is one of the central players of the Paraguayan automotive export cluster.
