If the only thing you're taking home from Paraguay is technology, this guide is for you. Here we won't talk about shoppings or landscapes: we talk about which store to buy your next iPhone, MacBook, Samsung Galaxy, PlayStation, drone or camera at — with legal invoice, official warranty and the lowest probability of customs trouble on return. We cover the five major formal chains (iShop, Casa Nissei, Cellshop, Mega Eletrônicos, Tienda Móvil), their specialties, locations and what to ask for at each. We also make clear what not to buy and where not to.

The 2026 Paraguayan tech landscape

Paraguay has three formal tech retail ecosystems:

  • Apple Premium Reseller: iShop is the country's only Apple Premium Reseller, with stores in CDE (Shopping París, floor 2), Asunción (Paseo La Galería, Shopping del Sol) and Encarnación.
  • Authorized Resellers Apple: Casa Nissei and Cellshop. They operate Apple Shop-in-Shop inside their stores, with certified technicians and official stock.
  • Premium multi-brand: Mega Eletrônicos (CDE), Tiendamovil (national chain focused on AR/BR), Punto Farma also sells basic electronics.

And two recent official brand stores:

  • Samsung Brand Store: opened Nov 2024 at Shopping París CDE, Paraguay's first official. Operated by Samsung directly.
  • Ferrari Scuderia: Shopping París CDE. Official apparel + accessories.

Casa Nissei: the veteran

Founded in 1986, Casa Nissei is Paraguay's oldest and most recognized tech chain. 38 years operating with focus on cross-border buyers (AR + BR). Main store in CDE: Av. Adrián Jara & Regimiento Piribebuy (250 m from Friendship Bridge). Branches in Asunción, Encarnación, Pedro Juan Caballero.

Specialties:

  • Apple Authorized Reseller with dedicated Apple section (not Premium Reseller but operates with official Apple stock).
  • Major Samsung distributor (pre-dates official Brand Store).
  • Official GoPro distributor.
  • Small appliances: espresso machines, kitchen robots, small electronics.
  • Sony, Canon, Nikon cameras.
  • Apple Watch + accessories line.

What to ask for: legal invoice with your name and passport, IMEI visible on invoice, factory-sealed box. They accept USD cash (best rate), international card, transfer.

Website: nissei.com/py (online purchase + in-store pickup).

iShop: the Apple Premium Reseller

iShop is Paraguay's Apple Premium Reseller franchise, owned by the iCenter Paraguayan group. The CDE store at Shopping París floor 2 is the second Apple Premium Reseller in South America after Brazil. The Asunción store (Paseo La Galería) is award-winning for Apple design.

Specialties:

  • iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods with official Apple Paraguay stock.
  • Official accessories (cables, cases, AppleCare when available).
  • Free setup service: data migration, initial config, basic training.
  • Apple Trade In: accept your old device for credit toward a new one.

Warranty: 1 year Apple international (covers Argentina, Brazil, USA, EU). AppleCare+ is not officially sold in Paraguay (market limitation, not iShop's choice), so you can't extend warranty.

Payment: accept USD, BRL, ARS, international card. Card has 3–5% surcharge not mentioned on website but disclosed by sales staff.

Cellshop: the technician

Cellshop operates 5 stores in CDE (four main microcenter avenues). It's Apple Authorized Reseller + CISTEC, the country's only official Apple technical service center. Also exclusive DJI distributor and official DJI Paraguay service.

Specialties:

  • Apple iPhone, iPad, Mac, AirPods with in-house technical service (exceptional in Paraguay).
  • DJI drones + official repair.
  • Premium audio (Sony WH-1000XM5, Bose QC, JBL).
  • Gaming: consoles, controllers, accessories.
  • Beverages and single malt whiskies section (curiosity: Cellshop also sells whiskies, integrated in its «luxury goods» catalog alongside tech).

Building: Shopping Cellshop (53,000 m², opens Dec 2026), its own shopping center signaling long-term investment.

Tienda Móvil: the official Samsung

Tiendamovil is official Samsung Paraguay distributor, with stores in Asunción and CDE. Together with the official Samsung Brand Store at Shopping París, they are the two channels with official Samsung warranty.

Specialties:

  • Samsung Galaxy all ranges (S, A, M, Z Fold/Flip).
  • Samsung Galaxy Watch, Tab.
  • Samsung TVs, appliances.
  • Sony PlayStation official distributor (with Abacel as wholesaler).
  • Some Apple products (not Authorized but they offer iPhones from parallel stock — prefer iShop or Nissei for Apple).

Mega Eletrônicos: the CDE specialist

National chain with stores exclusively in Ciudad del Este. Focus on AR/BR border buyers. Wide selection, competitive prices.

Specialties:

  • Smartphones (Samsung, Motorola, Xiaomi, parallel Apple).
  • Dell, Lenovo, HP, ASUS, Acer laptops (excellent for Windows).
  • Smart TVs (LG, Samsung, TCL).
  • Consoles and video games.
  • Audio (Bluetooth speakers JBL, Sony, Bose).
  • Cameras and drones.

How to verify authenticity before paying

  1. Factory-sealed box: Apple uses white film with star-shaped perforation. Samsung uses seal with QR code. If the seal has visible glue or the plastic is damaged, don't buy.
  2. Verify IMEI: dial *#06# on the phone. The IMEI must match the box (exterior sticker) and the invoice. Three matches = legitimate. Any discrepancy = don't buy.
  3. Apple Check Coverage: at checkcoverage.apple.com you can enter the serial and verify the device is new (full 1-year Apple warranty, not activated in another region).
  4. Samsung Check: at samsung.com/global/business/mobile/onlineshop/imei-check/ you can verify Samsung IMEI.
  5. Legal Paraguayan invoice: must include business RUC, your full name and passport/ID number, product IMEI/serial, amount in guaraníes and USD. Generic «B» invoice without your name doesn't work for customs.

What to avoid at all costs

  • Street stands with «impossible» prices: Av. San Blas, Av. Monseñor Rodríguez have formal shops mixed with informal stands. If a stand offers you iPhone Pro 256GB at USD 800 when iShop has it at USD 1,210, there's deception somewhere: counterfeit, disguised refurbished, smuggled.
  • «Like new» iPhones at street markets: official Apple refurbished iPhones exist and are legitimate, but they're sold through specific channels (apple.com refurbished + authorized retailers). At street markets, it's not legitimate.
  • «Free SIM unlock»: if a seller offers to unlock a device in CDE, it's a sign of dubious origin (likely theft or batch without official distribution). Don't buy.
  • Products without original box: any premium product should have sealed original packaging. No box = don't buy.
  • «100% original» chargers and accessories: microcenter stands sometimes sell counterfeit Lightning «MFi» cables. Buy at iShop, Cellshop, Casa Nissei (where they're authentic, although somewhat pricier than AliExpress).
  • «High speed» SD cards at street markets: SanDisk Extreme Pro USD 30 at CDE street stand = almost always counterfeit. Official Paraguayan SanDisk is ~USD 90.

Warranty: what's covered, what's not

Apple Paraguay (via iShop) issues a 1-year international limited warranty. Covers factory defects. AppleCare+ (extends warranty + covers accidental damage) is not officially sold in Paraguay in 2026. This means if you break the screen of an iPhone bought at iShop, you pay full repair.

Samsung has official 1–2 year warranty (varies by product) valid in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and other Latin American countries. Repair done at official Samsung centers.

DJI has 1-year international warranty covering defects. DJI Care Refresh (covers accidental damage) can be activated from DJI Fly app on device start.

Sony, Canon, Nikon, Bose: international warranties valid at any official center worldwide (with invoice as proof of purchase).

Payment: options and traps

MethodProsCons
USD cashBest rate, no surcharge, no Brazilian IOF, no Argentine card surchargeSecurity risk carrying cash, customs declaration if >USD 10,000
Visa/Mastercard international credit cardConvenient, chargeback if problem, no need to carry cashMerchant surcharge 3–5% + Brazilian IOF 3.5% + Argentine card-dollar (PAIS + Income 60%)
International debit cardPay at day's rate, no financingSome merchants don't accept international debit
Reais or pesos cashNo need to exchange to USD firstUnfavorable rate (lose 3–7% on conversion)
International bank transferFor large purchases (>USD 5,000): fixed commission lower than card1–3 day delay, not for «cross and buy same day»
Bitcoin / cryptoiShop and Cellshop accept at some storesVolatility, no recourse on problems

Optimal strategy by buyer type

Argentine with physical USD: the best scenario. Take USD cash (bought at MEP or parallel dollar), pay in USD cash at iShop/Nissei/Cellshop. Save 60% «card-dollar» surcharge and get 3–5% cash discount at many stores.

Brazilian with physical USD: similar to above. Exchange reais to USD in Foz do Iguaçu (better rates than CDE), pay in USD cash, save 3.5% IOF.

Argentine with credit card: the worst scenario. Calculate: iPhone price × 1.6 (PAIS + Income) + 3% internal IOF + 5% merchant surcharge. «Savings» vanish. Solution: buy MEP USD first, convert to physical, travel and pay in cash.

Brazilian with credit card: acceptable. Total surcharge ~5–8% over USD price. Still cheaper than Brazil but with reduced margin.

European / Italian / Spanish: international credit card without extra surcharge (most European banks don't apply Paraguay-specific surcharge). Pay at day's EUR/USD rate.

Return logistics: what to carry, what to ship by courier

For personal items

For large purchases (>USD 3,000) or bulky products (TVs, multiple laptops), evaluate:

  • Argentina: door-to-door courier regime up to USD 3,000 with single 50%. Legal and predictable.
  • Brazil: courier up to USD 3,000 with 60% federal + ICMS. More expensive but legal and predictable too.
  • EU: courier pays VAT + duty on everything, no commercial franchise.

Some Paraguayan stores (iShop, Casa Nissei) offer insured international shipping. Always compare vs carrying in luggage + paying customs excess.

Five 2026 star tech buys with reason

  1. iPhone 17 Pro Max at iShop CDE: USD 800 savings vs Argentina, USD 1,000 vs Brazil. 256GB stock always available.
  2. MacBook Air M3 13" at iShop or Nissei: USD 900–1,400 savings vs equivalent AR/BR. Strongest deal in Apple catalog.
  3. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra at official Brand Store: international Samsung warranty, USD 600 savings vs Brazil.
  4. DJI Mini 4 Pro at Cellshop: includes CISTEC for future technical service. Unique in the region.
  5. Dell XPS 13 Plus / 15 at Mega Eletrônicos: premium Windows laptop with 50%+ savings vs AR.
