About Dr. Raúl Peña
Dr. Raúl Peña is a district in the department of Alto Paraná that honors a figure from Paraguayan history in its name. It is located in the Eastern Region of the country, in a department that concentrates much of Paraguay's agro-industrial activity. The local economy relies on extensive agriculture, primarily soybean cultivation, the dominant pattern in eastern Paraguay since the second half of the twentieth century. The district connects to the region's commercial centers through Alto Paraná's road network.
