About Gral. Higinio Morínigo
The district of Gral. Higinio Morínigo takes its name from Paraguayan military and political leader Higinio Morínigo (1897-1985), who presided over the country from 1940 to 1948. Like other districts of Caazapá Department, its economic life is organized around agricultural production and local commerce. The district's rural territory combines fields dedicated to smallholder farming and cattle ranching with areas of native vegetation characteristic of the southern Región Oriental.
