Loma Plata, a city in the Central Chaco, in the vast western region of Paraguay, will get a hotel from the international Holiday Inn chain. It will be the first piece of the Chaco Central Complex, a development that combines a hotel, a shopping center and, over the longer term, an urban plan built around the Bioceanic Route, the corridor linking Brazil's Atlantic side with Chile's Pacific ports across the Paraguayan Chaco.
Who is behind the complex
The project is promoted by an alliance between the Chortitzer Cooperative, from the area's Mennonite colony, and the González Acosta Group. The hotel will carry the Holiday Inn brand and has the backing of IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), the international hotel company.
The hotel in numbers
According to the Chortitzer Cooperative, cited by Infonegocios, the hotel investment is USD 10 million, including the 4.4-hectare site, construction and completion of the work. It will have more than 110 rooms across five levels, according to La Prensa. For the first stage of the project, which includes the hotel and a shopping center, the developers anticipate an investment of up to USD 60 million, according to Última Hora (October 1, 2026). The masterplan also includes a second phase.
Timeline: works under way and opening in mid-2027
The first works are already under way, according to Última Hora, and La Prensa describes the hotel as currently under construction. The opening is planned for mid-2027; Infonegocios and La Prensa mention July. According to the developers, the inauguration would coincide with the centenary of the Mennonite colony in Paraguay.
A new city around the Bioceanic Route
The developers describe the complex as a new city around the Bioceanic Route, able to house about 70,000 residents by 2050, according to their projection. The development of the Bioceanic Corridor is creating new opportunities in the Chaco. What comes next
The next milestone is the hotel opening, planned for mid-2027, followed by the stages that complete the masterplan.
