About Itauguá

Itauguá is a city in the Central Department with 93,213 inhabitants (2022 Census), declared by Law No. 4591/12 the "Capital of Ñandutí" — the exquisite Paraguayan needle lace declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO — and located approximately 30 km southeast of Asunción along Route 2. The craft of ñandutí, whose name in Guaraní means "spider web," is passed down from generation to generation and is the city's main cultural hallmark. Itauguá also houses the Hospital Nacional, one of the country's leading public hospitals, which generates constant demand for services and housing for medical and healthcare staff. The urban fabric combines a historic colonial core with modern residential developments and light industrial activity on its outskirts. The real estate offer is primarily residential: single-family homes, small gated communities, and construction lots, at prices lower than Greater Asunción. Its natural surroundings, with rural landscapes and the influence of the Route 2 corridor, make it attractive for those seeking quality of life outside the capital. For the international buyer and investor, Itauguá combines cultural authenticity, health infrastructure, and an accessible residential market.
