About Paso de Patria
Paso de Patria is a district of singular historical value located in the Ñeembucú department in the far south of Paraguay. Situated near the confluence of the Paraguay and Paraná rivers, it was the strategic point where Allied forces crossed into Paraguayan territory during the War of the Triple Alliance (1864–1870), making it one of the central theatres of that conflict. Today, Paso de Patria preserves sites and monuments that evoke that era, and it is visited by those seeking to learn about nineteenth-century Paraguayan military history.
