About Yguazú

Yguazú is a district in the department of Alto Paraná whose name comes from Guaraní and refers to big water, toponymically linking the municipality to the region's aquatic heritage, which includes the Paraná River and its tributaries. Agricultural production, led by soybeans, is the central economic activity of the district. Yguazú fits the productive profile of eastern Paraguay, a region whose agrarian transformation during the twentieth century made it one of the continent's leading grain-producing zones.
