About Puerto Pinasco

Puerto Pinasco is a district of the Presidente Hayes department fronting the Paraguay River, which historically gave it port functions and served as an entry point into the Chaco interior. The extraction of quebracho wood and the tannin industry drove its early development during the heyday of tannin companies operating in the region, including the Carlos Casado Company. The Paraguay River remains the district's natural axis, combining extensive cattle ranching with the legacy of its port and industrial past. Its low population density places it within the general pattern of the southern Chaco.
