About Maracaná

Maracaná is a district in the department of Canindeyú, in northeastern Paraguay. Its name evokes the maracaná, a bird belonging to the parrot family widely distributed in the country's eastern region, whose presence is part of the natural heritage that historically characterized these territories. Agricultural production, with soybean cultivation as the predominant activity, sustains the local economy of the district, in line with the productive vocation of Canindeyú as a whole. Proximity to the border with Brazil and the influence of communities of Brazilian origin are elements common to the departmental context.
